Calyx: A Journal of Art and Literature by Women
Summer 2000 Issue
This is the first issue of Calyx that I've read, and I must admit that it really won me over.  Calyx is a "Journal of art and literature by women."  However, that does not mean that it is a bunch of poems about "hating men" or "my trip to the gynecologist."

The poetry in Calyx focuses primarily on issues of concern to women, but the issues are more of the "social" kind: mothers, ethnicity, spirituality.  For example, these lines from "My Accent," by Marjorie Agosin:

I love my accent.
In it I am myself
and nothing more than
a lady who never stopped
being in Spanish.

There is also a good helping of introspective poetry in this issue.  The works that are not poetry, are mainly creative non-fiction, personal essays, and reviews of new books by female poets.  Calyx also includes a section of glossy photos of artwork and sculpture by women.

Calyx is published three times a year.  You can reach Calyx on the internet at http://www.proaxis.com/~calyx/.
