Tin House, Volume 1, Number 3
Win McCormack, Editor-in-Chief/Publisher
McCormack Communications, Winter 2000
Tin House is a relatively new quarterly literary publication that brings a refreshing mix of features to its readers.

In the Winter 2000 issue (the publication's third issue), you'll find poet Charles Simic writing about Hieronymus Bosch's famous painting "The Temptation of St. Anthony", an interview with Chinese dissident author Mian Mian, and an article comparing and contrasting the favorite apple pie recipes of Jane Austin, Alice B. Toklas, and Erskine Caldwell.

There's also a great variety of styles represented in the short fiction of the issue, and poetry from new voices (Chin Ho Chong) and well-known voices (Marge Piercy).

Tin House also provides readers with an Acrostic laden with literary and cultural references.  Another entertaining feature is the "Lost and Found", reviews of books found buried in people's attics and used book store shelves (not unlike the berniE-zine!).

It has been a long time since I read such an entertaining and varied collection of writings all under one masthead.  I urge everyone to go support new treasures like this.
